Just some pictures I took at Hendy Woods State Park in California (4/20/1999)

More shots of the Grove, an abnormal growth on one of the trees,
and a twisted mess of roots, Redwoods don't have a tap root, and
Despite how tall they are, there roots generally only extend to a
Depth of 8 feet, intertwined roots are the support they require to
Remain standing, the roots can extend more than 50 feet horizontally.

 

A small frog near the river, Wild Iris, "the campsite"

Wild iris' were blooming in abundance when I visited toward
the end of May.
